LHS NEHS events are full of fun, food, and English! Whether it's decorating doors, listening to spooky stories, or throwing Shakespeare a birthday party, NEHS members always have a blast.

Deck the Doors

This NEHS favorite event is an annual tradition during the holiday season in which NEHS member collaborate with their teachers to create doors inspired by their favorite literary works.

Literary Valentines

NEHS members write love letters to their favorite authors or characters and share them with their peers for an embarrassingly funny time.

Halloween Happenings

This spooktacular event consists of scary stories, poems, and games. Members can share their personal works or favorites tales for a frighteningly enjoyable event.

Poetry Slam

Step up the competition with the NEHS annual poetry slam. Members craft their own poetic masterpieces and present them to each other for a grand prize.

Shakespere's Birthday

A classic favorite, William Shakespeare, is celebrated by NEHS members as they throw his annual birthday bash every spring.

NEHS Scholarship Contest

Congratulations to our 2023-2024 winners of the NEHS Scholarship contest Sam Isler ($3000) and Ashley Headrick ($1500)!

Annually, NEHS offers a scholarship competition for NEHS seniors, in which members are required to read a Common Reader novel and submit an essay based on a list of prompts provided by the NEHS Advisory Council. Langley NEHS members have won the NEHS Essay Competition for three years in a row!

For the 2023-2024 school year, the Common Reader novel is "The Botanist's Daughter" by Kayte Nunn, a blend of science, history, and adventure as the main character seeks a rare plant her late father wished to find.
