Adopt a Grandparent
By virtue of the NEHS motto, "gelast sceal mid are," the Langley High School chapter of NEHS founded the Adopt a Grandparent Program to join students and seniors together, creating meaningful relationships between members of our community. The Adopt a Grandparent Program focuses on establishing a sense of fellowship and friendship that may be missing from their lives. In previous years, the Langley chapter of NEHS partnered with Sunrise Senior Living and the Lewinsville Retirement Residence to connect different generations in the
community through weekly activities such as board games, reading, and conversing with residents. Members of the program also have the option to create (and decorate!) handwritten letters that will be delivered to the residents, video chat, participate in book clubs, and write articles about residents in a newsletter for the senior centers.
